Medicare Physiotherapy Fees and Rebates

At Central Physio & Health, we offer both bulk billed and non-bulk billed physiotherapy appointments for patients with a valid Medicare GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) plan.

The amount you pay depends on:

• Which physiotherapist you book with
• The appointment length selected
• Whether the appointment is bulk billed or has a gap payment

Bulk Billed Physiotherapy Appointments

Bulk billed appointments are available with:

Ella & Stefan

• 30-minute physiotherapy sessions
• No out-of-pocket cost
• Medicare rebate of $63.40 covers the full consultation fee and we will bill this directly with Medicare on your behalf 

Non Bulk Billed Physiotherapy Appointments

Appointments with a gap payment are available when:

• A longer consultation is required
• You prefer to see a senior physiotherapist
• Your condition is more complex and requires additional assessment and treatment time

Why choose a longer appointment? 

Longer appointments may be beneficial if you require:

• A more comprehensive assessment
• Hands-on treatment
• Detailed exercise prescription
• Rehabilitation planning
• Education regarding your condition
• Management of more complex or longstanding problems

How Medicare Rebates Work

If your GP has provided you with a valid GPCCMP referral, you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate for your physiotherapy appointment.

Step 1: Book Your Appointment

Choose the physiotherapist and appointment length that best suits your needs.

Step 2: Pay for Your Appointment

You will pay the full consultation fee at the time of your appointment.

Step 3: Receive Your Medicare Rebate

We will process your Medicare rebate on the spot, and the rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank account.

Important Medicare Information

• A valid GP referral and Medicare card are required.
• Medicare rebates are subject to current government rebate rates.
• Medicare generally allows up to five allied health visits per calendar year under a GPCCM plan (shared across all allied health providers).
• Clients are responsible for tracking and monitoring their own available Medicare sessions within each referral period.
• If a Medicare rebate is rejected for any reason — including exhausted sessions, invalid referrals, expired referrals or Medicare ineligibility — the outstanding consultation fee will become the responsibility of the client and payable in full.
